Total dimension of checked bagged is not to exceed 158 cm (62 inches) (length + width + height) per piece.

What if my baggage weighs more than the approved amount?
Please be advised that all passengers departing will be required to pay an excess baggage fee, as described below.
Effective September 19, 2008, the following changes to excess baggage fees, will be applied on
all Skyservice flights

Limited Release Tags
· Bags that are scuffed, torn or otherwise show signs of age and wear will have limited release tags completed before being accepted for check-in. These tags indicate that Skyservice will not assume liability for damage.

· There is a certain amount of wear and tear that is the normal result of use and for which the airline is not responsible, and we therefore decline claims for the following:

· Scratches
· Torn seams
· Missing straps
· Dents
· Scuffs
· Manufacturers defects
· Handles
· Soiling
· Wheels
· Locks
· Nicks
· Zipper damages
Fragile Items

· Skyservice will decline to accept fragile items unless they are properly packed for shipping and have a limited release tag completed. We do recommend that items of a fragile nature (including sporting equipment) be insured for shipping.

· When possible - fragile items should be carried in the cabin (please see carry on baggage allowances)

· Skyservice will not be liable for damage to fragile items.

Limit of Liability
· The airline recommends that all bags be locked, and that unless insured, the bag remains at the owners risk throughout the flight.

· Our liability is limited for the carriage of items of value in checked luggage unless we have been advised at the time of check-in. We strongly advise that additional insurance be purchased for all fragile articles including sporting equipment.

· Baggage should be designed to protect its contents and packed accordingly to prevent damage in the course of normal handling.

Unclaimed baggage · Unclaimed baggage and its contents which cannot be identified will be held for up to 60 days, subsequent to which the bag and its contents will be disposed of as seen fit.

 Carry on Baggage (Hand Baggage) Allowances
• In accordance with the Transport Canada Carry on Baggage Program, each passenger is permitted only one piece in the cabin and this may be no larger than 9" x 16" x 20" or 23cm x 40cm x 51cm and weigh no more than 5 kgs or 11 lbs.

• Excess will be charged at the applicable rate per kg for each direction, for bags that are excessively heavy (and may need to be checked). 
•  Extra pieces will be checked.
•  Carry on luggage must be placed either under your seat or in an overhead storage bin of the aircraft.
• Bags with built-in rollerboards will not be accepted in the cabin unless the dimensions including wheels and handles are as outlined above.
•  Items counted as Carry on Baggage:
•  Any kind of bag or suitcase, briefcase, laptop computer, diaper bag, camera case with spare lenses & film that are in addition to the camera itself, cartons, boxes and other similar items.
•  Items not counted as Carry on Baggage:
•  Cameras, coats, diplomatic or consular bags, purses (10" x 12"x 8" or less), receptacles containing human remains, child restraint systems. Please note: car seats are only permitted in cases of infants for whom a seat has been purchased.
•  Containers carrying life sustaining items - please contact us prior to your flight at 1-888-571-0094

Items not allowed in Carry on Baggage:
•  All Knives
•  Any sharp object
•  Any weapons including replica or toy weapons
•  Corkscrews
•  Fireworks
• Sporting equipment including golf clubs, hockey sticks, ice skates, ski poles, squash/ tennis racquets, baseball bats, pool cues.
• Computer security chain
•  Skyservice reserves the right to prohibit any item considered a security risk.

 Items allowed as Carry on Baggage:
•  Electronic equipment such as cell phones, portable music players, laptop (minus security chain)
• Nail clippers
•  Non-metallic nail files
•  Disposable razors & razor blade cartridges
• Syringes or needles for personal medical use
• Medically required walking canes
•  Umbrellas

Sporting Equipment
In addition to the free baggage allowance, ONE of the following articles of baggage may be carried without additional charge, except for water sport equipment, to a maximum of 32 kilograms (70 lbs.) per passenger, subject to availability of space. Passengers may be required to sign a Limited Release Tag if the item is considered unsuitably packaged, or is fragile or if the item has pre-existing damage.

Golf Equipment:
One covered golf bag containing up to 14 golf clubs, 12 golf balls and one pair of golf shoes. No charge up to 20 kilograms

Ski Equipment or Snowboard:
Consisting of (a) one pair of skis, boots and poles or (b) snowboard and one pair of snow boots. Passenger must place skies and poles or board in a separate bag from the boots. No charge up to 20 kilograms

Bicycles:
One bicycle – handlebars must be fixed sideways and tires must be deflated. The bicycle must be placed in a solid bag, box or other suitable travel case. No Charge up to 20 kilograms

Scuba Equipment:
Scuba tanks must be empty of all oxygen and the pressure gauges protected. Equipment must only consist of 1 tank, air regulator, mask and fins. Skyservice recommends waiting period of at least 24 hours between the last dive and flight check-in time. It is however, the sole responsibility of the passenger to determine the pre-flight waiting period following their dive is safest for them. No charge up to 20 kilograms Windsurfing equipment: Consisting of one windsurf board and/or one mast boom and/or sail. A special request must be sent to Skyservice due to limited quantity accepted on board. If mast is more than 10 feet long, it must be detached from the board. If mast is less than 10 feet long, it must be attached to the board. Passenger will be charged $100.00 CDN per round trip, per unit

Surfboards:
Any regular size surfboards not more than 12 feet long and up to a maximum of 20 kilograms. Passengers will be charged $100.00 CDN per round trip, per unit Kayaks: Passenger will be charged $100.00 CDN per round trip, per unit Kite Boards: Includes kite board and power kite to a maximum of 150 cm. No charge up to 10 kilograms

Boogie boards:
One board per passenger and up to a maximum of 5 ft in length. No charge up to 10 kilograms

Skateboards:
One skateboard per passenger not weighing more than 10 kilograms. No charge Ice skates or rollerblades: One per passenger and must be contained in plastic, or proper skate bag. No charge up to 10 kilograms

Hiking/Mountaineering Equipment:
One bag per passenger may consist of one sleeping bag, one tent, and accessories. No charge up to 20 kilograms

Hunting equipment:
Firearms can only be admitted in cargo and must be packed in a rigid case with proper identification. Ammunition is forbidden, including separate boxes. Passengers must conform to the laws, rules, regulations and standards of the destination country. If checking in a hand-gun, passengers need to present a Registered Firearm License and a Permit to carry or transport such hand-gun. If checking in a rifle passengers need to present a Firearm License (formerly FAC - Firearm Acquisition Certificate). No Charge up to 20 kilograms

Fishing Equipment:
One set per passenger, which consists of one fishing rod and one tackle box. No Charge up to 10 kilograms

Hockey Sticks and Equipment:
One set per passenger consisting of a maximum of 2 sticks, a helmet, puck, set of pads and a pair of skates. Any loose sticks not packed in a hockey bag must be taped together and tagged separately. Any additional items will be accepted at the excess baggage rates assigned

Tennis Racquets:
Tennis racquets may be accepted as carryon baggage as long as they are within the sizing restrictions. No charge up to 10 kilograms

Camping Equipment:
Consisting of one tent, one sleeping bag, and camping accessories. Only new stoves and non-used canisters will be accepted. No fuel sources will be accepted. No charge up to 20 kilograms

Horseshoes:
Shoes must be packed in secure container or bag. No charge up to 20 kilograms

Musical Instruments:
As Checked Baggage
• Instrument must be packed in a rigid case. Passengers must sign a Limited Release Tag

 As Carry-on Baggage
• Instruments must be no larger than 23 x 40 x 51 cm. or 9" x 16" x 20" and must fit under the passenger's seat

Passengers traveling with an infant who have not purchased a seat for the infant: Infants are not allowed their own baggage allowance however they are allowed free of charge 2 extra pieces per infant (example: car seat, stroller, play pen etc...).

Passengers traveling with an infant who purchased a seat for the infant: Once a seat is purchased for the baby they are allowed the same allowance as the adult which is mentioned in details above.

EXCEPTION: For travel to the United States, CanJet allows two (2) pieces at 20kg (44 lbs) per bag of combined weight of 40kg (88 lbs) and 158 cm (62 inches) in overall dimensions (height + width + depth).

CARRY-ON LUGGAGE: CanJet will permit each passenger to carry onboard, (1) standard item of carry-on luggage not exceeding 21 cm x 40 cm x 54 cm (8" x 16" x 21") in size and (1) personal item not exceeding 16 cm x 33 cm x 43 cm (6" x 13" x 17"). Maximum weight for each individual item shall not exceed 10kg (22 pounds).

Items to be counted include: Any kind of bag or suitcase, briefcases, laptop computers (bags), diaper bags, camera cases that may contain items such as spare lenses and film in addition to the camera, cartons, boxes and other similar items.
Items not to be counted include: Cameras, coats, diplomatic or consular bags, purses 10" x 12" x 8" or less, receptacles containing human remains, strollers, child restraint systems, containers carrying life-sustaining items, live vital organs, crutches, canes, walkers and other similar items.
CanJet sizing units, which are 21 cm x 40 cm x 54 cm in dimension, shall be located at check-in counters located at each airport. Any heavy items and duty free bottles shall be placed under the passenger's seat. Front row and bulkhead passenger luggage shall be stowed for take-off, landing, and during turbulence in an overhead compartment. Carry-on luggage, which cannot be stowed in the approved manner, will be removed from the cabin and loaded in the designated cargo hold.

Garment Bags and Musical Instruments: Each garment bag and musical instrument is a piece of luggage subject to standard rules.

EXCESS LUGGAGE: Excess luggage (this is inclusive of weight and size restrictions) will be charged $40.00 CAD or $40.00 USD (plus applicable taxes) each for the third (3rd), fourth (4th) and fifth (5th) pieces checked, the maximum that any one person may check. Carriage of the excess piece(s) is subject to space and weight availability.

EXCESS WEIGHT: Any pieces exceeding their allowed weight will be charged $40.00 CAD or $40.00 USD. CanJet cannot accept baggage over 45 kg (100 lbs).

EXCESS PIECE: Anything exceeding 2 pieces will be charged $40.00 CAD or $40.00 USD.

Forms of payment: CanJet accepts MasterCard, VISA, American Express, and Diners Club. As well, Cash and Debit were available are accepted at the airport. CanJet does not accept personal cheques

NOTE: More than one excess fee may be applied. For example, if the item is overweight and oversized, it will be charged twice.

SPECIAL ITEMS: Bicycles and Surfboards will be charged $65.00 CAD or $65.00 USD (plus applicable taxes).

These items are not accepted as checked baggage: Kayaks, Canoes, Windsurfers, Pole-vaults and Hang Gliders. CanJet does not accept Pets for travel.

All excess luggage and special items will be carried on a space available basis only and loaded after checked luggage. Traveling guest must claim luggage at the destination of arrival.

Sporting Equipment (Free Luggage Option)

When properly packaged, CanJet Airlines will allow one of the following sports items to be substituted for a free checked luggage allowance piece if it fits within the weight and dimension limitations. These may include one of the following:

Golf clubs
One golf bag containing no more than 14 clubs and one pair of golf shoes. The bag and clubs must be fully enclosed in a hard shell container specifically designed for shipping. If otherwise packaged, the item(s) will only be accepted with a limited release form (to be signed at check-in), releasing CanJet Airlines of liability.

Hockey equipment
One set of hockey equipment (containing one equipment bag and a maximum of 2 hockey sticks). Excess charges apply for overweight and/or additional equipment. The hockey stick(s) must be packaged in a rigid and/or hard shell container specifically designed for shipping. If otherwise packaged, the sticks must be taped together and will only be accepted with a limited release form (to be signed at check-in), releasing CanJet Airlines of liability.

Skis (snow or water)
One set of snow skis (containing one pair of skis, poles and boots) or one set of water skis (a pair, or a single slalom). These sets are considered as one piece of checked luggage and no other item(s) can be carried in the package. The skis and poles must be packaged in a rigid and/or hard-shell container specifically designed for shipping. If otherwise packaged, the item(s) will only be accepted with a limited release form (to be signed at check-in), releasing CanJet Airlines of liability.

Fishing equipment
Includes two rods, one reel and a tackle box. The fishing rod(s) must be packaged in a rigid and/or hard shell container specifically designed for shipping. If otherwise packaged, the item(s) will only be accepted with a limited release form (to be signed at check-in), releasing CanJet Airlines of liability.

Archery equipment
Covers a bow and arrows suitably packaged in a rigid and/or hard shell container specifically designed for shipping. If otherwise packaged, the item(s) will only be accepted with a limited release form (to be signed at check-in), releasing CanJet Airlines of liability.

Snowboards
A set consists of one snowboard and one pair of boots. This set is considered as one piece of checked luggage and no other item(s) can be carried in the package. The snowboard must be packaged in a rigid and/or hard-shell container specifically designed for shipping. If otherwise packaged, the item will only be accepted with a limited release form (to be signed at check-in), releasing CanJet Airlines of liability.

Scuba diving equipment
A set is considered to be one each of the following: empty scuba tank(be able to open the tank to prove it is empty), regulator, pressure gauge (to be at 0), tank harness, face mask, pair of diving fins, snorkel, knife, spear gun, air pistol and safety vest. All equipment (excluding the tank which can be carried separately) must be securely packed in a rigid and/or hard shell container specifically designed for shipping. These item(s) will only be accepted with a limited release form (to be signed at check-in), releasing CanJet of liability. All equipment must be visually inspected and accepted by our check-in agents.

MOBILITY AID DEVICES: CanJet will accept wheelchairs, walkers, motorized scooters and mobility equipment for no additional charge. Dry and gel cell batteries may be accepted for travel providing they are secured in an approved battery container. CanJet will not accept wet cell batteries for safety reasons.

CLAIMS FOR LOST OR DAMAGED BAGS: Damaged or lost luggage must be reported in person within four hours of arrival at the destination airport.

INTERLINE TRANSFER OF LUGGAGE: CanJet does not participate in any luggage interline agreements with other airlines. If you are connecting from your CanJet flight to another airline, you must retrieve your checked luggage at the luggage carousel and proceed to your connecting airline for check-in.

NOTICE OF LUGGAGE LIABILITY LIMITATIONS: Liability for loss, delay, or damage is limited unless a higher value is declared in advance and additional charges are paid. For travel wholly between points in Canada, the liability limit is CAD $250.00 per passenger. For travel between points in Canada and the United States, the liability limit is the greater of (1) the limits set out in the Warsaw Convention, or (2) CAD $25.00 per kilogram in respect of checked Luggage and CAD $500.00 per passenger in respect of unchecked Luggage. Excess valuation may not be declared on certain types of articles. CanJet assumes no liability for fragile, valuable or perishable articles, including money, jewellery, camera, video and electronic equipment, silverware, negotiable instruments, business documents, samples, paintings, antiques, furs, manuscripts or similar items in checked or unchecked Luggage. Despite handling luggage with care, CanJet considers the following damage normal wear and tear and will not accept claim for: scratches, nicks, missing straps, zipper damage, handles, scuffs, dents, soiling, manufacturer defects, wheels, seams, or over packed luggage. HAZARDOUS MATERIAL: Transport Canada regulations restrict carriage on aircraft of items classified as hazardous materials. These materials include, but are not limited to, flammable gases-liquid and solid, non-flammable, compressed gas, explosives, poison, corrosives, oxidizing agents, radioactive material, etiologic agents, and magnetized material.

ONBOARD MEDICAL OXYGEN: CanJet does not allow medical oxygen onboard.

For passengers in economy class (excluding infants under 2 years of age) there is maximum baggage allowance of 20 Kilograms of checked baggage per passenger (40 kilograms in club Transat Class), to be carried without additional charge, except in these cases:

A piece of checked baggage must not exceed 32 Kilograms, or 70 lbs, any piece of baggage exceeding this weight will be shipped as cargo, and cargo charges will then apply.

If the total weight exceeds the maximum baggage allowance, an additional charge per excess kilogram will be applicable on all flights in economy and club classes:

CDN = $20 / US = $22 / EURO = 15 / GBP = 11 / CHF = 25 / CUC = 20

All sporting equipment is accepted with a signed Limited Release form, releasing Air Transat from any claim in regards to damage. It is important that passengers make sure items are covered by their personal insurance. Consult your travel or insurance agent.

Increased Security Directives
The following restrictions apply to liquids, gels, and/or aerosols at the passenger screening checkpoint. We recommend that passengers prepare the permitted items as noted before proceeding to the screening point.

Effective November 6, 2006, the maximum quantity of liquids, gels and aerosols permitted in carry-on baggage has been increased to 100ml/100g (3.4 oz.) per container. These items must be placed in one clear, closed and re-sealable plastic bag no larger than one litre (one quart). There is a limit of one bag per person, which must be removed from carry-on luggage and placed separately in a screening bin at airport security.

· Unsealed, open, coloured or opaque plastic bags of any size with liquids, gels or aerosols in containers of any size will not be permitted through pre-boarding security screening in carry-on baggage. Similarly, liquids, gels or aerosols in containers larger than 100ml/100g (3.4 oz) will not be permitted through security screening as carry-on.

· Items exempt from the above restrictions include baby formula, baby food and milk for passengers travelling with infants and prescription and essential non-prescription medicines.

· Lighters must be included in the clear re-sealable bag that is carried on board. Lighters cannot be placed in checked baggage on any flight, for safety reasons. Matches must always be carried on your person.

· Once past the security screening checkpoint, passengers may carry on board any liquids, gels and aerosols that have been purchased from retail stores and duty-free outlets in the sterile area. For double destination flights and/or travel from the UK and Portugal, please note the exceptions listed below, Air Transat offers a very complete variety of duty free products on board with the exception of pre-cleared flights to the U.S.A.

Please note that passengers on flights departing EU countries (including the U.K.) are allowed to carry on board duty-free liquids when purchased at an EU airport and placed in a sealed bag, otherwise they must go in the checked baggage.

• Each guest is permitted to bring one bicycle, but all applicable excess fee will be charged per bike per direction (extra piece, overweight or oversize).
• The guest must provide a box or bike bag, and pack the bicycle by turning the handle bars, partially deflating the tires and removing the pedals.
• Any bicycle containing hydraulic fluid or mineral must be packed to prevent leakage.

• One set will be accepted per guest, and the oversized fee will be waived, however the overweight or extra piece fee will be charged if applicable.
• A set is considered to be:
  • Skis, boots and poles, or
  • Snowboards and boots, or
  • Water skis (up to two) or
  • One fishing rod and a tackle box or
  • One golf bag, holding clubs, shoes and balls.
• Fishing rods must be encased in a hard shell cylinder fishing rod container.
  
• Golf bags
  • Must be sturdy enough to provide adequate protection to the contents.
  • Must have an attached hood to protect club heads
  • Golf clubs, balls and shoes are to be packed in a suitable golf bag
  • Please note: Golf clubs packed in golf bags not offering sufficient protection to the contents and golf bags which don't have an attached hood will require a Limited Liability Release Form to be completed and signed by the guest.
  • Golf bags with built in tripods will require the legs to be taped or secured to the bag and a Limited Liability Release Form to be completed and signed by the guest.

• Restricted conditions apply
• One set of scuba gear will be accepted per guest, but all applicable excess fees will be charged per set per direction (extra piece, overweight or oversize).
• Cylinders containing compressed air or a special gas mixture are prohibited
• WestJet only accepts empty/emptied cylinders (pressure gauge must read zero).
• Tank valve must be open.
• Diving lamps must be disconnected, with the terminals taped over to prevent accidental functioning during transport.

Checked baggage for humanitarian aid

One additional pieces of checked baggage for the purpose of humanitarian aid per guest will be accepted at no additional charge with the following restrictions:

• This is only available for flights departing from Canada only.
• The piece must not exceed the size and weight dimensions shown in the Checked Baggage table above, and should be packed separately from personal belongings.
• The checked baggage allowed weight - both pieces combined - is 20 kgs (44 lbs).
• Excess weight would be charged at a fee of $5.00/kg.
